Laura Travis carves limestone, soapstone and slate in a post and beam shed in Middlebridge, RI, and in a mill studio at 30 Cutler Street in Warren. Inspired by ancient iconographies, she showcases her carvings and Brigid Crosses, and has recently added traditional Irish handwoven belt, the “crios”. Laura will demonstrate carving and weaving at HopArts; she offers classes in stonecarving from RI to Ontario.
“The idea of being able to access history with your art has always been really appealing to me.”
